Hello everyone.
I'm Teppi, a travel writer.

This time I will be introducing the 22nd scenic spot📸
I would like to introduce Heirinji Temple, a autumn leaves spot in Saitama Prefecture that has a lot of nature remaining🍁

Recommended spots for autumn leaves near Tokyo !

Heirinji is a temple located in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture.
I would like to introduce the autumn leaves right away, but first I would like to introduce the history😄

Heirinji Temple was founded in 1375📅
It was not originally located at its current location.
When it was first built, it was located in what is now Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City😳

It is said that it was later moved to the current location of Nobidome, Niiza City, according to the will of Matsudaira Nobutsuna, the lord of the Kawagoe domain who was in charge of political affairs in the Edo shogunate📚
(Speaking of Kawagoe, it is also famous as ❝Koedo❞, where the streets of the Edo period remain !)

What is also unique about Heirinji Temple is that it has a rich natural thicket remaining within its vast grounds, and is the only thicket designated as a national natural monument🌳🌳

This article introduces how you can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves within the grounds of Heirinji Temple, where such rich nature remains !

Red, orange, yellow, green…🍁
The autumn leaves in the photograph above are the ones in main gate of a buddhist temple that will make you swoon✨

When Heirinji Temple was moved from Iwatsuki Ward to its current location, the main gate of a buddhist temple in the photo was apparently moved as well😊

Speaking of Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture, it is adjacent to Tokyo🏙
Among the 23 wards, it is adjacent to Nerima ward🏃

Although it is very close to Tokyo, there are not many places where you can see autumn leaves as beautiful as Kyoto and Kamakura, which are famous for their autumn leaves, so Heirinji Temple is highly recommended !

The best time to see the autumn leaves is usually from late November to early December😄
Be sure to take a short trip from Tokyo and enjoy viewing the autumn leaves👍

Also, as I explained at the beginning, there is a vast thicket of trees within the precincts of Heirinji Temple🌳🌳

How large is the area of that thicket...?
It's 43 hectares in size !!!
It may be difficult to imagine, but if you compare it to a soccer court, it would be about the same area as 64 soccer courts

When I actually walked around the precincts of Heirinji Temple, I felt that it was very spacious🙄
The model course also states that it is about 2km long, so you can see how vast the grounds of Heirinji Temple are🏃

By the way, the vast thicket stretches behind the precincts where the main facilities of Heirinji Temple are concentrated🤗
(※The temple's main gate, Buddha hall, Hojo Pond, etc. are clustered near the entrance to the temple grounds⛲)

Even in the thickly wooded area, there is a place to see autumn leaves called "Momijiyama"🍁
You can enjoy the autumn leaves while feeling nature, which is very soothing😌

This is "Nobidomezuka", which is also located in an area with a thicket of trees🌳
It is not known why it was built, but it seems that it has been in this location for a long time🕐

In addition to this, there are also graveyards in the wooded area😌
There is the Matsudaira Nobutsuna family cemetery that I explained at the beginning✒

Last but not least, Heirinji Temple is still a famous temple for Zen training👏
Therefore, let's enjoy the autumn leaves in a quiet and solemn manner so as not to interfere with their training🍁
